Little Big Planet Wins Big

The Interactive Achievement Awards is considered by many to be the biggest video game awards event in the year, and this year, at the twelfth annual award show it was Little Big Planet who really stole the show, and took home some serious hardware. The game won a total of eight awards, including best console game of the year, as well as game of the year. While I haven’t yet played the game, I certainly plan to do now.

If you’ve never heard of Little Big Planet, it’s a very creative gaming premise which features small funny looking characters which are referred to as sackboys. These sack characters evolve over the game based on the wa you play them, and the different areas you take them to. It certainly sounds different, and I’ll probably post more after I give the game a go myself.

Guess What: It’s Square Root Day!

It’s that day that people around the world await with anticipation. No doubt, the parades are planned, the party hats on, and the gourmet food is prepared. Okay, maybe none of that is true, but did you know that this Tuesday is Square Root Day? It’s true, there really is a holiday for everything.

Square root day is a little bit unique though, as it only occurs nine times a century. It will be held this Tuesday, which is 3/3/09 (if you’re not a math buff, 3 is 9’s square root). If you’re really into math, at thus also want to celebrate square root day, you’ll need to do it this time, or be prepared to wait awhile: The next square root day is not set to occur until April fourth, 2016.
