If you are not aware, the Apple App store is having a great contest now as they count down to their one billionth app downloaded by users from the Apple App store. When the historic one billion mark is reach one lucky Mac enthusiast will win a bundle of Mac goodies as well as a $10,000 iTunes gift bard (that’s a heck of a lot of songs, folks!). You can enter online at the Apple website.

So when will this historic mark be reached? Well, according to Mobile Squared, a U.K. data research company, Apple is on pace to hit one billion downloads sometime in the early morning on Thursday (US time). It really is quite the milestone, especially when you take in to account that it took Apple approximately six months to reach 500 million application downloads, and only ninety four days to get to this point since then.
