Napster Slashes Prices (Yipee)!
Everybody’s favorite “old school” internet music service, Napster, has released a new subscription option that will feature a significantly lower cost than previous subscription plans offered by the company. The new plans will provide subscribers with unlimited streaming of music from the Napster library, which boasts over 7 million songs at this time. Users who sign up for this plan will also receive five downloads a month, all for only five dollars (billed monthly).
It’s a very good deal as far as I can tell so far, but unfortunately is only being offered to the company’s US based subscribers. Also, word is that Napster will sell vouchers for the service through Best Buy, so that would make for a decent and cheap gift for the younger generation. Previously, the most popular plan offered by Napster included limitless downloads for fifteen dollars a month. We’ll see if this new, cheaper plan can overtake it in popularity in these tough economic times.
